I am thrilled to welcome you to the Thoracic Surgery Fellowship Program at The Uuniversity of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.  Through this training program, we provide our fellows with immersive exposure to the full breadth of our specialty, including tracks in general thoracic and cardiac surgery.  We aim to deliver a curriculum filled with exposure to all aspects of thoracic surgery, with an emphasis on cutting-edge, multidisciplinary oncologic care. We work closely with colleagues at UTHealth Houston, where our trainees receive a substantial component of their clinical training, including a wide range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures. 

Our world-class academic center is filled with outstanding resources and supported by a robust infrastructure for collaboration and research, offering clinical experiences that are unparalleled to any other in the country. We work in a supportive environment with strong cultural emphasis on wellness, communication, teamwork and inclusivity. Our traditional track trainees are incredibly skilled and knowledgeable after completing two years of training, and we additionally take intermittent 4+3 matriculants via our joint program with UTHealth Houston.

While our faculty are widely known surgeons who are world leaders in the realms of thoracic and cardiac surgery, they are also dedicated educators, with a strong commitment to teaching and developing the surgeons of the future.

As a program director, my aim is to provide thorough training under supportive conditions, with each trainee’s individualized goals as the foundation for tailored educational plans. I seek to ensure that all matriculated fellows have ample opportunity to master the clinical knowledge and techniques as outlined by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, complemented by academic scholarly pursuits and leadership skill development. Moreover, I hope to provide trainees with access to all that our institution has to offer, with a chance to achieve their educational objectives in a space that is supportive of wellness, personal development and continued growth.
