A Letter from our Program Director
I am thrilled to welcome you to the Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Fellowship Program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. As the program director, I am delighted to introduce you to our outstanding fellowship, designed to train the next generation of leaders in this field.
Our program stands out for its comprehensive and immersive training approach. Our rigorous curriculum balances clinical practice with innovative research and academic pursuits, reflected in our graduates' remarkable 100% fellowship completion rate. At UT MD Anderson, we foster an environment of collaboration and excellence. Fellows work closely with a multidisciplinary team of experts, including pioneers in stem cell transplantation, immunotherapy, hematology and oncology. This collaborative approach enhances learning and promotes the highest standards of patient care.
Our program provides extensive exposure to a diverse patient population, allowing fellows to diagnose, treat, and manage various hematological malignancies and other conditions. Fellows gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge procedures, including autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation, and CAR-T cell therapy.
Research and innovation are at the core of our program. Fellows have access to an extensive database and research support infrastructure and are encouraged to participate in transformative projects under the mentorship of leading faculty members. This emphasis on research ensures that our fellows contribute to advancing medical knowledge.
We are committed to providing a supportive environment for professional and personal growth. Fellows benefit from world-class facilities, comprehensive resources and a robust support system. Our goal is to prepare you for a successful career in academic medicine, clinical practice or research. Most fellows successfully find faculty positions at leading academic programs nationwide or internationally. Many fellows have joined UT MD Anderson as faculty over the years, and some have also pursued careers in private practice.

MD Anderson Cancer Center is committed to encouraging good health and staying true to our mission to end cancer. If you are applying for a GME fellowship or residency program starting on or after July 1, 2016, please be advised that MD Anderson will have instituted a tobacco-free hiring process as part of its efforts to achieve these goals. If you are offered an appointment, you will be subject to a Pre-Employment Drug Screen for tobacco compounds in compliance with applicable state laws. If you do not pass the urine drug screening which includes testing for tobacco compounds, you CANNOT be appointed at MD Anderson. Should you fail to meet this contingency, MD Anderson will withdraw your offer of appointment for the academic year. You may reapply for the following academic year, but there are no guarantees that you will be offered a position as many of our programs are already filled for several years out.
