Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship
The Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship at UT MD Anderson offers comprehensive training in advanced endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatoscopy (ERCP), diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), enteral stenting, as well as advanced endoscopic resection techniques.
As a premier national and international leader in oncologic care, this program is primarily focused on training fellows to demonstrate excellence in the diagnosis, staging and endoscopic treatment of pre-malignant and malignant conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, and in the management of a variety of gastrointestinal disorders and complications in complex oncologic patients.
In addition, trainees will have the opportunity to engage in clinical research studies and collaboration, investigating aspects such as technical innovations, techniques and clinical outcomes in the field of therapeutic endoscopy.
A Letter from our Program Director
On behalf of the entire Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy group at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, we sincerely thank you for your interest in our training program.
As a leader in cancer care and one of the largest cancer centers in the world located in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center, UT MD Anderson is a truly very special place to train. The Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship program was pioneered by Dr. Jeffrey H. Lee in 2007 who currently serves as distinguished Chair of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and remains very active in the training program.
Since inception, our program and expert faculty have continued to expand and evolve to meet the needs of our patients, referring providers and the institution’s critical mission to help eliminate cancer. Our goal is to provide fellows with the clinical skills and acumen necessary to become experts in performing advanced endoscopic procedures.
Trainees will learn how to effectively manage highly complex and challenging cases from the expertise of leaders in the field. Our fellow will also greatly benefit from the multidisciplinary approach and collaboration with experts from a variety of oncologic disciplines. We are very fortunate to have unparalleled access to resources, support services and the latest cutting-edge equipment, technology and research which has kept us at the forefront in the field.
In addition to comprehensive clinical training, our program strongly advocates research and academic development. Our entire team remains committed to providing excellence and compassion in all aspects of clinical care. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
Sincerely,
Brian Weston, M.D.

MD Anderson Cancer Center is committed to encouraging good health and staying true to our mission to end cancer. If you are applying for a GME fellowship or residency program starting on or after July 1, 2016, please be advised that MD Anderson will have instituted a tobacco-free hiring process as part of its efforts to achieve these goals. If you are offered an appointment, you will be subject to a Pre-Employment Drug Screen for tobacco compounds in compliance with applicable state laws. If you do not pass the urine drug screening which includes testing for tobacco compounds, you CANNOT be appointed at MD Anderson. Should you fail to meet this contingency, MD Anderson will withdraw your offer of appointment for the academic year. You may reapply for the following academic year, but there are no guarantees that you will be offered a position as many of our programs are already filled for several years out.
