Airway Management Fellowship

The Advanced Airway Management Fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a clinical-focused fellowship designed for anesthesiologists seeking exceptional training in the care ofpatients with the most complex and high-risk airways.

Fellows train in a uniquely demanding clinical environment shaped by advanced oncologic disease, altered anatomy from prior surgery and radiation, and challenging cardiopulmonary physiology. This experience develops not only technical expertise, but the judgment, adaptability, and composure required to become a leader in airway management.

Our approach is multidisciplinary and comprehensive. Fellows gain advanced experience in airway assessment, imaging, video laryngoscopy, flexible scope intubation, regional airway anesthesia, awake techniques, rescue strategies, and invasive airway management while working alongside experts across anesthesiology, head and neck surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, critical care, and related specialties.

The fellowship is committed to developing future leaders in airway management. Fellows are expected to grow as consultants, educators, and scholars, with opportunities in teaching, simulation, protocol development, and academic inquiry.
