Assistant, associate and full professor opportunities are available.
The James P. Allison Institute™ seeks investigators with impactful, original research programs that are shaping the direction of the field, across all disciplines, to accelerate scientific and clinical progress. Faculty candidates may pursue basic, translational, clinical or data science approaches and are expected to bring bold, original ideas with clear potential to evolve our understanding and treatment of cancer.
Our research includes:
- mechanistic and systems-level insights into tumor–immune interactions
- immune evasion and resistance, and therapeutic response
- immune engineering strategies
- cutting-edge technologies, including high-dimensional immune profiling, spatial and multi-omic technologies, computational modeling and data science enabling rapid discovery and translation
A Collaborative Accelerator: From Discovery to Impact
Our defining strength is the seamless integration of discovery science with clinical insight.
Close alignment with patient care and clinical trials enables rapid hypothesis testing and translation. A deeply collaborative culture unites basic researchers, clinicians and computational scientists into a synergistic accelerator model that shortens the path from discovery to patient impact.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. Basic and translational scientists should demonstrate strong postdoctoral training and outstanding publications. Successful candidates are expected to establish independent, extramurally funded research programs and foster multidisciplinary collaboration.
Support
The institution offers competitive compensation, substantial start-up support, and additional research support from the Allison Institute. Faculty will have access to outstanding graduate and postdoctoral candidates from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. In addition, faculty are encouraged to pursue external recruitment and research awards, including support from the Cancer Research and Prevention Institute of Texas (CPRIT).
Application
Submit a single PDF containing a curriculum vitae, a brief research statement (three pages or fewer), three representative publications and referee contact information. Letters of recommendation are optional for initial review.
Materials should be sent to AllisonInstituteRecruitment@mdanderson.org.
There is no deadline to apply, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Postdoctoral Fellows and Research Staff
The following positions in Allison Institute members' labs contribute to the efforts of the Allison Institute. Interested applicants should apply using the links below.
We are seeking outstanding postdoctoral trainees and research staff to join a highly collaborative cancer research program dedicated to accelerating scientific discovery and clinical impact. Fellows will develop bold, original projects within an integrated discovery-to-translation ecosystem that unites basic scientists, clinicians and computational researchers to rapidly move insights from bench to bedside.
With close alignment to patient care and clinical trials, our collaborative accelerator model enables rapid hypothesis testing and meaningful translational impact. We welcome creative, rigorous and driven investigators eager to shape the future of cancer immunology and immunotherapy through innovative, high-impact research.
