Collaborations
PRIME-TR is building strategic partnerships to continuously strengthen our commitment in advancing microbiome research and initiatives. We collaborate with both academic and industry partners in topics relevant to microbiome and cancer research. PRIME-TR works with faculty across multiple departments at our institution and others in the Texas Medical Center, as well as with groups located across the United States and in other countries.

Collaboration Workflow
Project Design: Sample and metadata collection strategies to enable microbiome exploration protocols
Execution: Resource integration for sample collection, data generation and analysis
Analysis & Interpretation: Dedicated bioinformatics methods for microbiome exploration and biostatistics
Cross-validation: Iterative analyses to cross-validate hypotheses and findings
Clinical Translation: Interventional trial design, involving networks of academic and industry key opinion leaders
The PRIME-TR team develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for many steps of a microbiome study workflow. These steps include collection, processing, and storage of specimens, as well as metadata collection and analysis. These SOPs are made available to our collaborators for everyone’s benefit.
We also rely on previously established methods that allow for data harmonization. As an example, we recommend referring to the Human Microbiome Project Manual of Operating Procedures as a general guideline for specimen collection.
