Kim's Place
Kim's Place is the ultimate tribute to a woman whose brave battle against cancer touched the hearts of fans around the world. Kim Perrot, a guard for the 4-time champion WNBA Houston Comets, died of lung cancer in August 1999 at the age of 32. Kim wanted to create a special place where cancer patients aged 15-25 could just hang out and be themselves.
Her dream came true in June 2003, when Kim's Place opened to the public. Kim's #10 WNBA jersey is prominently displayed at the entrance as a reminder that her spirit lives on.
The colorful recreation area of Kim's Place is decorated with comfortable couches and restaurant-style booths, and enough amenities to keep any teenager or young adult happy:
- A pool table
- Jukebox
- Mini-kitchen with microwaves and refrigerators
- Three computers with Internet access
- Video games
- Two basketball free-throw machines
A separate area of Kim's Place offers a quiet space for vocational and group counseling, as well as secondary and high school classes. When not in use, the room's large-screen plasma television with a dozen theater-style seats is a great place to watch movies and TV.

Hours are subject to change due to staffing availability. Please call first to confirm. Kim's Place is operated solely by part-time staff and volunteers from Volunteer Services and the Division of Pediatrics.
Ongoing Events
- AYA Social Hour: Enjoy a snack and mingle with other AYA patients
- AYA Gathering: Usually focuses on a central theme, such as arts and crafts, scrapbooking, music therapy, massage, etc. Every Friday in Theater Room (by Kim's Place) at 1:00 p.m.
