C. Chad Quarles, Ph.D.
Professor of Cancer Systems Imaging
Program Co-Director
Chad Quarles, Ph.D., is a professor and CPRIT Scholar in Cancer Research at UT MD Anderson. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Centenary College of Louisiana and his Ph.D. in biophysics from the Medical College of Wisconsin, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in cancer imaging at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Before joining UT MD Anderson, he served on the faculty at Vanderbilt University and the Barrow Neurological Institute. Dr. Quarles’ research focuses on developing and translating advanced neuroimaging technologies that provide clinically meaningful insights into how cancer and its treatments affect the nervous system. His work spans image-based biomarker discovery, molecular and metabolic imaging, pulse sequence design and data science, with applications in diagnostics, prognostics and image-guided therapies.
Ho-Ling Anthony Liu, Ph.D.
Professor of Imaging Physics
Program Co-Director
Ho-Ling Anthony Liu, Ph.D., earned his bachelor’s degree in physics from National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan), his Ph.D. in medical physics from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed an imaging physics residency at UT MD Anderson. Dr. Liu is part of the clinical MR physics team at UT MD Anderson, and he supports neuroradiology and the development of clinical fMRI, DTI tractography and advanced brain tumor imaging. Dr. Liu is an NIH-funded principal investigator and has been focusing on advanced MRI methods for studying brain function and physiology. He is particularly interested in the dynamic aspects of brain responses and their interplay with physiology in normal and diseased tissues. His works include MR imaging and quantification of brain functions, connectomes, tissue perfusion, vasoreactivity and glymphatic function.
Sepideh Mohammadhosseinpour, Ph.D.
Program Manager, Cancer Neuroimaging Research Program
Sepideh Mohammadhosseinpour, Ph.D., supports the day-to-day operations and strategic coordination of the program across multidisciplinary research teams. She earned her Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology and later completed postdoctoral training at UT MD Anderson. She brings a strong background in research management, scientific communication and program development. In her role with Cancer Neuroimaging Research Program, she oversees program planning activities, assists investigators with grant development, supports collaborative events that enhance engagement across research teams and serves as a liaison among faculty, trainees and administrative groups to advance program growth, research integration and cross-departmental collaboration. She is committed to fostering a cohesive research environment and supporting the long-term vision of the program.
