Ethics Medicine Innovation takes place on April 16–17, 2026, in Houston. This conference is designed to bring together thought leaders in medicine, ethics and technology to discuss the rapidly evolving health care space and important ethical considerations. The organizing committee for this workshop includes Institute for Data Science in Oncology (IDSO) affiliate Amitabha Palmer.
2026 Tumor Measurement Initiative (TMI) Symposium
This free event, jointly hosted by the UT MD Anderson Institute for Data Science in Oncology (IDSO) and Strategic Research Initiative Development (STRIDE), will feature highlights of current research being done with the Tumor Measurement Initiative along with discussion of resources for UT MD Anderson researchers.
The agenda includes:
- Presentations from UT MD Anderson experts and invited thought leaders
- Sessions on imaging foundations, technology platforms and clinical translation

AACR Annual Meeting
The AACR Annual Meeting was held in Chicago, April 25–30, 2025. The “Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/Systems Biology/Convergent Science” track had many sessions with topics related to artificial intelligence in cancer discovery and care. Computational Approaches for Cancer Workshop
Computational Approaches for Cancer Workshop was held in conjunction with The International Conference on High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis in St. Louis, Missouri on November 17, 2025. The organizing committee for this workshop includes Institute for Data Science in Oncology (IDSO) executive administrative director Eric Stahlberg.
Digital Twin Summit
The Second Annual Digital Twin Summit took place on October 17, 2025 in the TMC3 Collaborative Building. This event, co-hosted by the division of Cancer Medicine and the Institute for Data Science in Oncology, featured many engaging speakers in addition to presentations and panel discussions with digital twin teams at UT MD Anderson.
IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging
IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging was held in Houston, April 14–17, 2025. This meeting was organized by many individuals in the Institute for Data Science in Oncology, including Jeff Siewerdsen, Jia Wu, Kristy Brock, David Jaffray, Caroline Chung and Yinyin Yuan, with many others also presenting. Operations Research in Cancer Care Workshop
Operations Research in Cancer Care Workshop was held as part of the AI in Health Conference 2025 at Rice University on September 22, 2025. This workshop was organized by the Institute for Data Science in Oncology.
Tumor Measurement Initiative Symposium
In the 2024 Tumor Measurement Initiative symposium, we enjoyed some fascinating discussion around the accomplishments of the Tumor Measurement Initiative team to date in the development and use of machine learning and deep learning models for auto segmentation of tumors and in yielding key quantitative insights from tumor measurement.
Along with updates on the progress made in quantitative tumor measurement for brain, liver and lung, the 2025 symposium had a terrific line up of topics and speakers with some new topics around deploying AI models into clinical practice, a lung foundation model and an opportunity to interact with a cross-functional panel of experts on their insights on working to advance the frontier of quantitative tumor measurement.
This event, held April 3, 2025, at UT MD Anderson Mid-campus Building 1, was open to the public.
UT System AI Symposium in Healthcare
UT System 2025 AI Symposium in Healthcare was held in the TMC3 Collaborative Building in Houston on May 15–16, 2025. Both IDSO co-directors, David Jaffray and Caroline Chung, helped to organize this event.
