Overview
The Single Cell Genomics Core (SCGC) at MD Anderson Cancer Center, which was previously known as the CPRIT Single Core, is focused on providing the best of single cell genomic, transcriptomics and epigenomic technologies for cancer researchers. The goal is to use cutting-edge instrumentation, methods and innovative method in single cell genomics to provide investigators with comprehensive support for processing single cell samples in variety of techniques, including in-house assays developed by the Navin Lab, as well as providing single cell 10X genomics technology, such as RNA 3', 5' or ATAC assays. For all of these assays, the core provides pre- and post-experimentation consults, data review of sequencing data and bioinformatic quality control review. Our facility provides a defocus into single cell technologies and allows scientists to have the best expertise in single cell genomic and cellular biology.
Getting Started
Researchers interested in using the Single Cell Genomics Core (SCGC) should contact Nicholas Navin, Ph.D. for a pre-project consult to review the samples, project goal and requirements and to assess which assays are needed and set up a project plan.
Existing/approved projects can submit to a request for the services through iLabs, but all logistics of sample drop off must be done through direct contract with Tuan Tran.
Impact
The core has supported multiple high-impact publications across MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Texas Medical Center. Over the last five years, the core has experience with data analysis and writing of method sections and figures of multiple high-impact papers in area of cancer biology, single cell genomics and single cell transcriptomics in multiple high-impact journals including Nature and Cell.
Acknowledgment
Please remember to acknowledge the “CPRIT SINGLE CORE Facilities Grant (RP180684)” for all single cell services in your manuscripts that include data generated by our facility. For all sequencing that used the NovaSeq6000, please also acknowledge the ATGC core grant "CA016672(ATGC)" and the "NIH 1S10OD024977-01."

Texas Single Cell (TXSC) Seminars
The Single Cell Genomics Core (SCGC) helps organize the Texas Single Cell (TXSC) Seminars, which are open to the academia across Texas and the Texas Medical Center area.
Gulf Coast Consortium (GCC) for Single Cell Omics
The GCC is a cluster of researchers across the Texas Medical Center (TMC) institutes who are interested in developing and applying single cell sequencing technologies for research applications. The GCC organizes a yearly single cell symposium and networking activities and has regular meetings with members across the TMC.
