Principal Investigator

Dr. Iakovos Toumazis is an assistant professor of Health Services Research at UT MD Anderson, specializing in health care operations research and cancer screening optimization. His work focuses on developing mathematical models and optimization techniques.

Sayaka Ishizawa, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Sayaka Ishizawa is a postdoctoral fellow with a Ph.D. in applied mathematics and statistics. Her research utilizes stochastic modeling to develop effective intervention programs for the early detection and prevention of ovarian and lung cancer.

Seyyed Mostafa Mousavi Janbeh Sarayi, Ph.D.
Data Scientist

Dr. Mostafa Mousavi is a data scientist in the Toumazis Lab, where he focuses on cancer health policy using statistical and machine learning methods. With a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, his background spans engineering, applied mathematics, health care science and bioengineering.

Sara O. Nofal, M.D., Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Sara Nofal is a postdoctoral fellow at UT MD Anderson in Health Services Research and the Institute for Data Science in Oncology (IDSO). She is a physician-scientist with a Ph.D. in public health, advanced training in data science and a Master’s degree in health professions education. Her research integrates artificial intelligence, machine learning, epidemiology and cancer prevention to develop predictive models that improve cancer screening, early detection, outcomes and risk-stratified decision-making.
