The research in the Moghaddam Laboratory focuses on airway inflammation and its role in airway epithelial tumorigenesis. We specifically study the sex and cell type-specific roles of oncogene-driven (intrinsic) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-related (extrinsic) lung inflammation in pathogenesis and promotion of lung cancer.
These projects, by having the potential to detect and target important inflammatory and pro-carcinogenic pathways in the lungs, would have a major impact on preventing and treatment of the leading cause of cancer death.
