Life in the Lab
The Chung Lab is a hybrid team, with most members working mostly or completely remote. To maintain connectivity and collaboration in this hybrid environment, we have biweekly lab meetings to share updates, discuss problems and collaborate on solutions. We also meet regularly for virtual happy hours or seasonal festivities and try to connect in-person, when possible, to build friendships amongst the team. While we may be located in many different places, our team strives to stay well connected and to be available for each other at all times. Many of our projects are highly collaborative, and teamwork is a priority of the lab. On a day-to-day basis, this looks like…
- helping each other collect and curate appropriate data
- peer reviewing each other’s posters, presentations, and manuscripts to help strengthen the submission
- consistently providing space to ask for help and brainstorm possible solutions together
- supporting each other in areas of professional development
In addition to being highly collaborative, our work is also highly multidisciplinary. While our primary focus is on computational and data science and machine learning, the educational backgrounds and interests represented in the lab are very diverse. We leverage our diverse knowledge base to tackle a variety of complex challenges through machine learning models, retrospective studies, clinical trials, and more!
