Lab Members
Salvador Alonso, M.D.
Assistant Professor, Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology
Sergio Torres Perrez, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Torres obtained his biotechnology engineering degree from Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander followed by a Master of Science and Ph.D. in biomedicine and molecular biotechnology from the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico. He is interested in understanding how colorectal cancer cells adapt to stress, including anti-cancer drugs, and identifying vulnerabilities they acquire during this process.
Valeria Saraiba Rabanales, M.D.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Saraiba earned her M.D. at Monterrey Tec and intends to train in internal medicine before specializing in oncology. Her research is focused on understanding the process by which oncogene ecDNA amplifications drive resistance to targeted therapies in colorectal cancer and identifying dependencies and acquired vulnerabilities of ecDNA-amplified cells.
Ivan Arnaud Borboa, M.D.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Arnaud obtained his M.D. from Monterrey Tec and plans to purse residency training in internal medicine and medical oncology. His research is focused on identifying vulnerabilities in KRAS- and BRAF-mutated colorectal cancer cells using a counterintuitive approach: deliberate hyperactivation of oncogenic signaling.
Sofia Zamora Valdes
Medical Student
Sofia is pursuing her M.D. from Universidad de Monterrey in Mexico. She is interested in understanding genetic and non-genetic resistance mechanisms in colorectal cancer.
