Some integrative and complementary therapies can do the most good when practiced in a community setting. For this reason, the Integrative Medicine Center offers group classes open to patients, families, caregivers or anyone else touched by cancer. Individual class requirements are noted in the program descriptions below.
Registration is strongly suggested, but not required for some programs. If you are participating for the first time, please arrive early to complete the registration process. Held every first, third and fourth Monday of the month, 2-4 p.m.
These fun classes help you explore issues in a creative way and help you convey feelings or experiences that may be difficult to express in words. Classes include Paint Your Own Pottery, Beading, Mosaic Mania, Chinese Ink Art, Digital Photography, Watercolor Transfer and more!
Laughter for Health
Held every Wednesday, 12-1 p.m. (except on 5th Wednesday of the month)
Laughter for health combines yogic deep breathing, stretching, simulated laughter exercises and cultivated child-like playfulness. Participants report reduction in stress, blood pressure, depression and more. Join Chaplain Stephen Findley for this uplifting class. Please bring a bottle of water to class.
Look Good, Feel Better
Held every 1st Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
This program is presented by trained, licensed cosmetologists who help patients adjust to temporary or permanent changes in their appearance. First-time attendees will receive a complementary makeup kit, head cover and wig. You must pre-register for this program by calling 888-227-6333.
Professionally-led support groups meet at the Integrative Medicine Center for education, group discussion, guest speakers and supportive sharing for patients, family and friends.

PIKNIC is an informal educational forum for MD Anderson patients, caregivers, faculty and staff who want to learn more about issues relevant to cancer. Sessions are led by experts from MD Anderson or the Houston community, whose topics range from meditation techniques to cancer treatment news. Tibetan Bon Meditation
Held every Tuesday, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Relax and access a deeper awareness through connecting the mind, body, and heart, through breath, sound and movement practices. Class method rotates weekly and consists of: Power of Breath, Sacred Sounds, Movement & Breath (9:30-11 a.m.).

Features a gentle form of yoga that includes stretching, breathing, relaxation, and meditation techniques.
Held every Tuesday, 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

Brief Relaxation Massage
The chair massages, generously funded by Angie's Spa, are offered every Monday and Wednesday.

A fitness class designed to improve body composition by increasing muscle strength and burning calories. Led by the Integrative Medicine Physical Therapist, this class will follow a "circuit" format, with different exercises at each station. Suitable for any fitness level. Please bring a water bottle.

Cooking for Optimal Health
Held the fourth Monday of every month, 11 a.m-12 p.m. starting May 2016
The dietitian for the Integrative Medicine Program demonstrates how to prepare dishes meeting the whole foods, plant-based diet recommendations. Participants will also have the chance to enjoy some delicious samples.
Gardening 101: Summer Veggies and Herbs
Held twice a year. Next class: May 3rd, 2016, 11:00-12:30
Join expert instructors from Urban Harvest for a lesson on gardening basics. Learn to plan, nurture, and harvest vegetables so that you can experience the benefits of gardening at your own home.
