Chair yoga: Chair Yoga is a gentle, beginner-friendly form of yoga practiced from a chair, with all poses adapted for seated or supported movement. It is safe and accessible for people with cancer to build strength, flexibility, and relaxation at their own pace. For safety and support, please use a firm chair without wheels and armrests. Learn more about yoga therapy.
Connect & Reflect with Music: Connect & Reflect with Music is a music-centered, virtual support group for cancer survivors as well as those currently in active outpatient treatment. Led by a board-certified music therapist, this class helps you manage the emotional impacts of cancer in a welcoming environment. Themes for classes may include coping with anxiety, depression, role changes and increased stress, in addition to learning new relaxation and mindfulness techniques for greater overall well-being. Learn more about music therapy.
Cooking for Optimal Health: A virtual cooking class at MD Anderson, led by the Integrative Medicine Dietitian. This class focuses on plant-centered nutrition to help optimize health and reduce the risk of recurrence, providing patients with practical, easy-to-follow strategies. Participants can follow along from the comfort of their own homes and gain the skills to create nourishing meals that support healing and long-term wellness. Learn more about the Integrative Medicine Center's nutrition counseling.
Healing through Writing: Healing Through Writing is an expressive writing support group. You will be given instructions and a writing prompt prior to class. During class we will discuss the experience of writing and any emotions that arose. It is a great opportunity combine the process of writing and support from other patients and caregivers.
Pranayama/Breathing : Pranayama, or breathing exercises, help you control and expand your breath. These breathing methods have health benefits. You may notice physical and mental improvements such as less harmful effects of stress on your body. Learn more about yoga therapy.
Tai Chi & Qi Gong For Cancer Patients: Sometimes described as moving meditation, Tai chi and Qi gong are ancient practices that combine mindfulness with slow gentle movements that are synchronized with the breath. Focus is on improving balance and coordination to promote relaxation and stress reduction. All levels, beginners to experienced practitioners, are welcome.
Yoga for Health: This program features a gentle form of yoga with different levels of intensity, from chair-based options to intermediate practices. It includes stretching and movement, breathing exercises, relaxation and meditation techniques designed to help overall health. Learn more about yoga therapy.
Yoga Nidra: Yoga Nidra is a meditative exercise that can lead to deep relaxation. It aims to access the space between sleep and awareness, primarily through the sense of hearing. The goal is to relax your body so that your mind can also relax, moving you into a state between wakefulness and sleep. In this state, you are more open to a Sankalpa—a personal vow and commitment to support your highest truth. Learn more about yoga therapy.
