Viral Hepatitis ECHO
Introduction- Viral hepatitis is a major problem worldwide and managing infected patients with any type of cancer is challenging. Education and guidance of providers are essential to provide the best approach to treating patients with cancer and viral hepatitis caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis D virus (HDV), or hepatitis E virus. We are pleased to announce through the virtual ECHO clinics this is possible. We hope to foster the spirit of a virtual community by building relationships with one another and discussing these complex cases.
What is MD Anderson's Goal with Project ECHO?- To educate providers across the United States, and other countries on how to manage cancer patients with viral hepatitis. To decrease the number of liver-related complications and deaths from preventable cancers related to viral hepatitis (HBV, HCV).
How can we achieve this?- ECHO clinics allow us to easily connect with you virtually, by video, using Zoom. These sessions highlight the discussion of common themes on viral hepatitis through case-based learning, a short presentation, and a discussion with you!
What is needed of you?- The ECHO project is free of cost for you. There will be a monthly 1-hour Zoom meeting and you will need to present 1-2 cases per year of cancer patients with viral hepatitis from your local practice, no more than a 45 min presentation per case. A general template will be provided.
History
We are in our inaugural year of the Viral Hepatitis Clinic at MDACC.
