Clinical Neuroanesthesiology
The Clinical Neuroanesthesiology Fellowship is a one-year advanced training program aligned with International Council on Perioperative Neuroscience Training (ICPNT) standards and designed to prepare anesthesiologists for independent subspecialty practice. Fellows gain comprehensive exposure to complex cranial and spine surgery, neuro-oncology, neurointerventional procedures, neurocritical care, and intraoperative neuromonitoring within a high-acuity, multidisciplinary environment across the perioperative continuum.
A Letter from our Program Director
Thank you for your interest in the Clinical Neuroanesthesiology Fellowship! We developed this program to provide comprehensive, high-acuity training aligned with the demands of contemporary subspecialty practice. The program is distinguished by extensive exposure to complex cranial and spine surgery, neuro-oncologic anesthesia, and a structured, longitudinal experience in intraoperative neuromonitoring. Training occurs within a highly integrated, multidisciplinary environment with close collaboration across Neurointerventional Radiology and Neuroradiology, emphasizing advanced physiologic management, evidence-based decision-making, and systems-level thinking across the perioperative continuum. Graduates emerge with the clinical maturity, technical expertise, and academic foundation necessary for independent practice and leadership in perioperative neuroscience.

MD Anderson Cancer Center is committed to encouraging good health and staying true to our mission to end cancer. If you are applying for a GME fellowship or residency program starting on or after July 1, 2016, please be advised that MD Anderson will have instituted a tobacco-free hiring process as part of its efforts to achieve these goals. If you are offered an appointment, you will be subject to a Pre-Employment Drug Screen for tobacco compounds in compliance with applicable state laws. If you do not pass the urine drug screening which includes testing for tobacco compounds, you CANNOT be appointed at MD Anderson. Should you fail to meet this contingency, MD Anderson will withdraw your offer of appointment for the academic year. You may reapply for the following academic year, but there are no guarantees that you will be offered a position as many of our programs are already filled for several years out.
