Anti-Cancer: Explore a New Way of Life with David Servan-Schreiber

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is hosting an education event featuring David Servan-Schreiber, M.D., Ph.D., cancer survivor and author of the international best-seller Anti-Cancer, on Wednesday, July 22.

Check in begins at 5:30 p.m. at the South Campus Research Building, 7435 Fannin Street at Old Spanish Trail, followed by the evening’s program at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

With teachings from his book, Servan-Schreiber will change the way people think about everyday life and cancer prevention. He will share insights on how to:

  • Adopt a science-based, anti-cancer diet
  • Recognize how stress can impact cancer
  • Reap the benefits of exercise, yoga and meditation
  • Minimize exposure to environmental toxins
  • Balance traditional and alternative health care

Servan-Schreiber is a dedicated scientist and doctor, acclaimed author and cancer survivor. He is a clinical professor of psychiatry, cofounder of the Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a founding member of the organization, Doctors Without Borders, and continues to work in international crisis intervention.

His book, Anti-Cancer, was inspired during his personal battle with brain cancer. Servan-Schreiber recently has made appearances on The CBS Early Show, Extra and was featured in the September 5, 2008 “Stand-Up for Cancer” TV program that aired on ABC, CBS and NBC. He also has been featured in national publications, such as AARP Magazine, The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune and The L.A. Times. Copies of his book, which has been translated in 33 languages with more than one million copies in print, will be available for purchase. Servan-Schreiber will sign copies after the event.

Parking is free at the South Campus Research Building garage. Advance registration is required, as seating is limited. The registration deadline is July 16.
