Colman Joins M. D. Anderson as Vice President, Ambulatory Operations

Gerard Colman recently joined The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center as vice president of ambulatory operations.

Colman has more than 15 years of experience in health care management and finance. Prior to joining M. D. Anderson, Colman served as the administrative director of ambulatory care and patient financial services at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Irvington General Hospital since 1997.

In his new role, Colman oversees ambulatory patient care at M. D. Anderson, which includes patient care operations in clinical areas and administrative operations in the business centers. Colman is also involved in the expansion and renovation of ambulatory treatment facilities to support planned growth in the on-site delivery of patient care. The expansion includes several treatment centers, which will be located in the Ambulatory Clinical Building, expected to open in late 2004.

“I look forward to helping the institution meet the increasing need for quality cancer care by expanding ambulatory care operations and creating uniformity among the ambulatory care centers across the institution, ” Colman said.

Colman earned his bachelor’s degree in health care administration from Southern Illinois University, a master’s degree in health care administration from The New School of Social Research and achieved his certification in managed care contracting at Rutgers University. He is a member of the College of Health Care Executives and the Health Care Financial Managers Association.
