M. D. Anderson Registers Record Number of Participants In 2003 Komen Houston Race for the Cure®

More than 755 employees at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center have signed up to participate in the 2003 Komen Houston Race for the Cure®. The record number for M. D. Anderson is also one of the largest group of participants for the event, according to race organizers.

In support of M. D. Anderson’s record group, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Houston Affiliate Executive Director Amy Selig and 2003 Race Chair Jane Lightfield will be on hand for a group photo held in Alkek Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 12:30 p.m.

The Komen Houston Affiliate has given more than $1 million to M. D. Anderson for breast cancer prevention and education programs since 1990. Last year, the Houston Affiliate provided the institution with funds for a mobile mammography program, as well as an educational breast reconstruction interactive software program, available in both English and Spanish.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure® has become the largest series of 5K runs in the nation, held in 112 cities in the United States. The Houston race will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 a.m. in the Galleria/Uptown Houston area.
