Those committed to fighting ovarian cancer are off and running Saturday, May 3, at the sixth annual Sprint for Life 5K Run & Walk at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.

The event, presented by Randalls Food Markets, Cooper Industries, and The Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation, is held in support of ovarian cancer research and awareness efforts of M. D. Anderson's Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program. This year, Diane Riley serves as Sprint’s honorary chair and Shirley Coskey as underwriting chair; Judith Wolf, M.D., associate professor of surgery in M. D. Anderson’s Department of Gynecologic Oncology, will again serve as race chair.

The 5K run and walk gets underway at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, in the Texas Medical Center.  Early registration is $18 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and younger. Last year, more than 1,500 runners and walkers participated in the event, raising more than $100,000.

For registration information, visit the Sprint for Life registration webpage or call the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program at (713) 792-2765.
