Saks Fifth Avenue Plans for Annual Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Event
M. D. Anderson to Benefit from Proceeds

M. D. Anderson News Release 06/25/02

Saks Fifth Avenue will host its fourth annual Fashion Targets Breast Cancer kick-off event to benefit The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Sept. 18.

The private in-store affair will open four days of shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue - Sept. 18-21 - during which 2% of merchandise sales will be donated to M. D. Anderson's Nellie B. Connally Breast Cancer Fund.

The Houston event is part of an annual nationwide effort at 61 Saks Fifth Avenue stores. Since 1999, the weekend shopping extravaganza has raised more than $6 million to fund breast cancer research efforts across the nation.

Houston event co-chairs Anne Connally, Licia Green-Ellis, Tali Blumrosen and Kara Childress assure that the night's signature happenings - designer appearances, entertainment and gourmet food and beverage fare - again will wow attendees on every floor. Surprises are in the works, and honorary chair Nellie Connally is scheduled to attend. Adding to the excitement will be the return of the popular balloon chances, which will range in cost from $100 to $1,000.

Established in 1989, the Nellie B. Connally Breast Cancer Fund has awarded funds to support numerous patient programs and breast cancer research initiatives at M. D. Anderson.

Ticket prices to participate in the special evening event are $50 (admission for two) or $125 (admission for six). Each guest will receive a $25 electronic gift card valid toward a minimum purchase of $100, good for that evening only.
