Founded in 1998, Sprint for Life has raised over $3.2 million for the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program at MD Anderson. This event provides our leaders the optimum opportunity to fund the most pressing research needs to eradicate ovarian cancer: $50,000 grants are awarded annually to researchers. Sprint for Life proceeds also fund critical infrastructure expenses such as researcher salaries, lab supplies and equipment. Read about Sprint for Life awardees

How You Can Help: Build a Fundraising Page

Fundraising pages are a fun and effective way to support Sprint for Life which benefits the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program at MD Anderson. A donation, whether large or small, makes a difference in researchers’ efforts towards early detection and treatment of recurrent ovarian cancer. Your donation will honor our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, grandmothers and best friends.

The top three fundraisers and the top MD Anderson fundraiser will be announced on Race Day and will be awarded prizes at a luncheon hosted on the campus of MD Anderson at a later date.

 

Visit Firstgiving.com/sprintforlife, to set up your fundraising page while you register for Sprint for Life.  You'll find helpful hints on creating your own personal fundraising page and how-to's for more effective fundraising. Create your own personal page now:

  • Follow the link to Firstgiving
  • Click the Get Started button
  • Make your fundraising page personal with a photo and your story about why Sprint for Life is important to you
  • Set a goal for your fundraising page
  • You can add and update off-line donations to your fundraising page
  • Email your friends, family and business associates and encourage them to make a donation in honor of, in memory of, or in support of someone touched by ovarian cancer.  Think outside the box.  Ask your dry cleaner, lawyer, dentist, insurance agent, neighbors, the gym where you exercise, your yoga instructor and fellow parents and students from your child’s school.
  • Include the link to your fundraising page in your email signature to remind everyone of the important cause you are supporting.
  • Use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to broadcast your message. Include the link to your fundraising page on your Facebook page.

Donating to a Fundraising Page

An off-line donation by check will allow 100% of your contribution to go directly to the ovarian cancer research program at MD Anderson Cancer Center.   Donations are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

If you are a fundraising page fundraiser and collecting off-line donations (checks only, please, no cash), complete and mail in the Off-Line Donation Form (pdf) with the collected checks.

An online donation will not receive the full tax benefit. Please note Firstgiving charges 7.5% for each donation received.  Information on the transaction fees is located on the bottom of every fundraising page.  You will see a link that reads “Transaction fees apply to this amount.”

A tax acknowledgement will be issued for contributions (on-line or off-line gifts) of $10 or more.
