Data Scientist
Ken is a data scientist from Japan with a clinical background in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He earned his D.M.D. from Hokkaido University and his Ph.D. in Medical Science from Hirosaki University Graduate School of Medicine. Before transitioning to computational oncology, he practiced for 11 years as a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Japan. At UT MD Anderson, he applies computational and statistical methods to multimodal omics data to study cancer progression, metastasis, and therapeutic response. He completed the Institute for Data Science in Oncology (IDSO) Fellowship and currently serves as an IDSO Affiliate. Outside of work, he enjoys playing soccer and previously played handball for many years in Japan.

Bryant is originally from China and received his B.S. in chemical and biomolecular engineering from the University of Houston and his Ph.D. in chemical and biomolecular engineering from Rice University. During Bryant's Ph.D., he worked on CRISPR-based nucleic acid detection and TALE-based mitochondrial genome editing. Bryant's research interests focus on developing genome editing technologies and applying them to generate precise cellular and mouse models for studying clinically relevant diseases, including leukemia. Outside of the lab, Bryant enjoys spending time with his wife and his two cats, as well as cooking, gardening and playing guitar.
