Lab Members
Ruoyan Li, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor
RLi11@MDAnderson.org
Dr. Ruoyan Li is an assistant professor in Systems Biology. He obtained his bachelor's degree at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2012 and his Ph.D. at Peking University in 2017. Before joining MD Anderson, he received postdoctoral training in the lab of Dr. Fan Bai at Peking University and in the lab of Dr. Sarah Teichmann at Wellcome Sanger Institute. Dr. Li has a longstanding interest in understanding cancer development, evolution and heterogeneity.
Junfei Wei, Ph.D.
Senior Research Assistant
Dr. Junfei Wei is a senior research assistant in Systems Biology. She began her career as a certified doctor at a local hospital in China, but her passion for understanding diseases at the molecular level inspired her transition into research. Before joining MD Anderson, Dr. Wei worked at the Center for Vaccine Development at Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, specializing in COVID-19 vaccine development. Dr. Wei's research focuses on understanding cancer development, evolution and heterogeneity. She is currently investigating somatic mutations in solid tissues using laser capture microdissection and low-input DNA sequencing.
Yuwen Pan, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Yuwen Pan obtained his Ph.D. in computational biology from the Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in January 2023. His previous research has primarily focused on population genetics, exploring human evolution driven by natural selection and genetic admixture. Shifting from “macro-evolution” to “micro-evolution,” he is now interested in studying tumor evolution using advanced computational and genomic technologies.
Dexin Yang, M.S.
Graduate Research Assistant
Dexin Yang is a Ph.D. student in the Quantitative Sciences and Genetics and Epigenetics programs. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Zhejiang University in 2021 and his master’s degree from the MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in 2023. Dexin’s research interests include cancer (epi)genomics, single-molecule sequencing, 3D genome organization and functional genomics.
