Biomedical Engineering Education Opportunities: STEP UP 2009

The department offers multidisciplinary learning opportunities that span college through postdoctoral training. We maintain a strong commitment to educating the next generation of scientists and physicians and view people as one of our primary products for impacting healthcare in the near future.

Introductory Clinical Cancer Internship

Graduate students enrolled in engineering, physics, computer sciences, bioinformatics and math-related degree programs at Rice University and The University of Texas may participate in a 10-week summer internship at UT M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. The internship provides an accelerated program of study to prepare students with a limited biology background for participation in translational cancer research. Students take mini-courses in clinical anatomy, medical terminology, introduction to oncology, histopathology and cancer vet medicine and complete observational rotations in a variety of cancer clinics.
