Postdoctoral 2010 Survey
In 2010, postdoctoral fellows were invited to participate in a comprehensive perception survey about various aspects of life as a postdoctoral fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center. More than half of the nearly 500 postdoctoral fellows responded to the survey.
Designed for the purpose of quality improvement, the Postdoctoral Survey 2010 resulted in these top recommendations for presentation to senior management:
1. Make the Fast Track Orientation mandatory.
2. Make the Individual Development Plan (IDP) mandatory for all postdoctoral fellows.
Two-way tie for third:
3. Increase postdoctoral program funding.
3. Establish a Postdoctoral Office within the Office of Research Trainee Programs (TAA) as a full-time, dedicated resource for postdoctoral fellows.
5. Require postdoctoral fellows to form an individual Postdoctoral Advisory Committee (PAC).
