Colposcopy Module

Description

This three-day module outlines comprehensive, safe approaches to the evaluation and management of patients with abnormal PAP smears. This module consists of classroom instruction and clinical skills practice with live models. A preceptor skilled in colposcopy is required to supervise at least the first colposcopic exams performed by module participants. A letter confirming the preceptorship is required from the preceptor(s) before taking this module.

  • Preinvasive disease of the cervix
  • Identifying normal and abnormal findings in the transformation zone
  • Performance of methodical colposcopic examinations
  • Patient education

Participants in this module must be licensed and currently practicing as a nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, physician, clinical nurse specialist or a physician assistant for a minimum of one year. Applicants also must be proficient in pelvic assessment and have at least one year of experience in performing pelvic exams.
