Global Academic Programs

Teamwork Hands Image (jpg)
Global Academic Programs (GAP) seeks to expand the reach of M. D. Anderson’s Making Cancer History® mission by building relationships with premier academic, health care and government entities that share our vision and to help develop an important international dimension to our academic programs.

The relationships focus on key areas of collaboration which include:

  • Research collaborations
  • Cancer prevention and population science projects
  • Educational exchanges and training
  • Clinical trials and patient care

One form of partnership is a "sister" institution alliance: a mutually beneficial relationship in which interested faculty from both institutions define areas of collaboration. The sister institution approach helps facilitate educational exchanges, medical conferences and collaborative research projects. Together we are a very powerful research, education, clinical care, and prevention network with great ability to influence and advance global knowledge in oncology.
