General Information
The goal of the workshop is to provide a comprehensive approach to the issue of health disparities. In addition, to also provide the attendee with a broad base of knowledge related to a bio-psychosocial approach in addressing health disparities.
Educational Objectives
- Learn more about the latest findings on social, behavioral and medical determinants of health
- Demonstrate awareness of the factors contributing to wide disparities in health among certain populations
- Identify the roles of various traditional and non-traditional (economists, political scientists, anthropologists, etc.) health professionals in eliminating disparities
- Gain a better understanding of resources available for planning, policy development, program interpretation and funding to reduce health disparities
Target Audience
This workshop should be of interest to physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals, social workers, students, fellows and health educators, community members, and civic and governmental leaders.
