Allocations
During the tenth and final year of our CPRIT Core Facility Support Award RP170002 (Dec. 1, 2020 – Nov. 30, 2021), we expect to have approximately $300K available to distribute for Core User Group Member NGS projects. This money will be used to provide sequencing allotments of up to $8K to support projects from 40 active current NGS User Group Members.
In order to receive a sequencing allotment, you must complete an application, due on Friday, January 8, 2020. Applications will first be vetted by the NGS Core Director, and then approved by the NGS Oversight Committee (Drs. Shen, Dent, Bedford, and Johnson, and Dr. Vishy Iyer from UT Austin) before any project is funded. Please be aware that if an allotment is not used in a timely manner, any awarded funds may be reallocated to support other needs.
The 2-page application will require the following:
- A Progress Report listing publications and submitted manuscripts that acknowledge the CPRIT grant RP170002, and any newly funded grants which will utilize Science Park NGS Core services;
- As required by CPRIT, please include results/data in an attached PDF file that went into any publications/submitted manuscripts;
- An Abstract describing the scientific rationale for your current Project, and its relation (if any) to cancer research;
- A section describing your Experimental Design that has been approved by a bioinformatician. Please describe the entire Project, not just the portion associated with your allotment request.
Please submit the application and pdf of results/data electronically to jianshen@mdanderson.org before the deadline.
Note: We anticipate that most projects will cost more than $8K. Members will be required to provide any additional costs from their own funding source(s). Please feel free to get advice or help from the NGS Core staff in setting up the budget. It should be based on our current prices for the various services provided.
