A Conversation With a Living Legend in Dallas to honor major champion Jordan Spieth

CBS Sports' Tony Romo to lead interview at Nov. 5 benefit luncheon

A Conversation With a Living Legend® in Dallas will honor PGA TOUR professional Jordan Spieth, Nov. 5 at the Hilton Anatole. CBS Sports' Tony Romo will interview Spieth at the 29th annual luncheon event benefiting The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Event chair Wade T. Nowlin Jr., of Dallas, and a steering committee of North Texas community and business leaders have raised more than $1.2 million to support MD Anderson's Moon Shots Program™, a comprehensive effort to significantly reduce cancer deaths and transform cancer care. Lyda Hill is presenting sponsor, with the AT&T Foundation serving as speaker sponsor. Red Carpet underwriters are Lana and Barry Andrews, VIP reception; Sherry and J. Robert Brown and The Rosewood Corporation, event favors; RGT Wealth Advisors, VIP reception favors; and Sewell Automotive, valet. Other top sponsors include Tandy and Lee Roy Mitchell, Rolex Watch USA Inc., Affiliated Bank and Sam L. Susser, and Julie and John Young.

Spieth, a native of Dallas, established the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation in 2014 with a focus on supporting pediatric cancer programs, youths with special needs, junior golf and military families. Spieth played in his first PGA TOUR event, now the AT&T Byron Nelson, at age 16. The youngest player to earn PGA TOUR membership, he has amassed 14 worldwide wins in his six-year professional career, most recently the Open Championship in 2017. Spieth has represented the United States on three Ryder Cup Teams and three Presidents Cup teams. He joins Jack Nicklaus as the only other golfer with three major championships before the age of 24 (The Masters, 2015; The U.S. Open at Chamber’s Bay, 2015; and The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, 2017). Additional wins in 2017 included the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Travelers Championship.

Romo, who spent 14 years as the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and holds several Cowboys' team records, joined CBS Sports in 2017 as the lead game analyst for the "NFL on CBS." He also called "Thursday Night Football" games during the 2017 NFL season. This year Romo is again working with Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson as the CBS Television Network's lead NFL announce team.

Since A Conversation With a Living Legend® originated in North Texas in 1990, the event has been replicated across the country in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Washington, D.C., raising approximately $39.7 million for vital research and patient care initiatives at MD Anderson. With this year's enthusiastic support, Dallas-Fort Worth luncheon fundraising totals exceed $18 million.
