About the School
Our graduate school is a unique partnership between two institutions: The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). This partnership in graduate education has existed for more than 50 years.
Just as he has changed the lives of people suffering from a devastating genetic disease, molecular endocrinologist John J. Kopchick, Ph.D., and his wife, Charlene, of Athens, Ohio, are paving the way for future scientists to do the same with a transformative $10.5 million gift to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

Science study opportunities at Smithville campus
The Virginia Harris Cockrell Cancer Research Center (Science Park) is a basic science research campus located in the Lost Pines region of Central Texas near Austin. It is home to the Epigenetics and Molecular Carcinogenesis department, with the overarching mission is to investigate the molecular biology of cancer and to develop means for cancer prevention and detection.
