Presentations for adults
Our experts come to your location to educate participants about cancer prevention. Following is a list of topics. All presentations are available in English. Additional languages are noted.
Breast cancer: Reduce your risk - This presentation addresses breast cancer screening exams, risk factors and preventive behaviors.
Colorectal cancer: Reduce your risk - This program educates men and women about colorectal cancer screening exams, risk factors and preventive behaviors. It is presented in one or three sessions and also available in Spanish and Vietnamese
Healthy choices help lower your cancer risk - This presentation focuses on the most common types of cancers, warning signs and risk factors, healthy lifestyle changes and cancer screening exams for men and women.
Making healthier food choices - This presentation provides specific nutrition recommendations for reducing your cancer risk.
Prevent Cancer: The HPV vaccine - The goal of the Prevent Cancer/HPV program is to educate parents and other adults about HPV, related cancers, risk factors and the HPV vaccine. It is also available in Spanish and Vietnamese.
Tobacco 101 - Tobacco 101 educates parents, people who work with youth, and other adults on types of tobacco products (including e-cigarettes), dangers of tobacco, quitting tobacco, helping someone to quit and other topics.
Skin cancer: Reduce your risk - This presentation addresses skin cancer screening exams, risk factors and preventive behaviors.
Your health matters: A healthy eating and physical activity program - This interactive program educates participants on ways to reduce cancer risk by increasing physical activity and eating healthy. It includes four sessions: healthy portions for a healthy weight, benefits of fruits and vegetables, tips to stay active, and understanding and preventing cancer. It is also available in Spanish and Vietnamese.
Presentations for kids and teens
Teen Tobacco Prevention Program - The Teen Tobacco Prevention Program educates middle and high school students on the dangers of tobacco and provides them with skills to refuse tobacco products. Role-playing and visual aids are incorporated into each session.
Too Cool to Smoke - The puppet show educates children in kindergarten through 4th grade about the dangers of tobacco use and the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices. This program is funded by ConocoPhillips
ASPIRE - ASPIRE is a web-based, interactive curriculum for middle- and high-school teachers to educate students on the dangers of tobacco products. The program is available in English and Spanish.
Sun Safety Programs
- Sunbeatables: Sunbeatables® is a sun-safety curriculum for preschool teachers to educate children and parents about sun protection and promote sun safety behaviors in an effort to reduce children’s lifetime risk of developing skin cancer.
- Scholastic: Be Sunbeatable is sun safety program for 3rd-5th grade students, co-developed by MD Anderson and Scholastic. This program continues promotion of sun safety behaviors across the age spectrum to reduce lifetime skin cancer risk.
