The Department of Genomic Medicine aims to create an adaptive learning environment to enable bench@bedside integration of genomic research in setting of clinical care to accelerate insight discovery and translation into therapeutics and diagnostics for improved patient outcomes through technology innovation. Discovery activities include broad based efforts to catalog somatic epi/genomic alterations and germline variations in multiple cancer types, and to understand them at the mechanistic and biological level. Cutting-edge genomic technologies and big data analytics are leveraged to identify those differences that are most likely to be relevant to disease. We translate these complex cancer genomic data into validated therapeutic targets and biomarkers through functional genomics and mechanism biology utilizing diverse model systems. Therapeutic development efforts are led by ourInstitute for Applied Cancer Scienc (IACS), which brings professional drug discovery capabilities into partnership with disease and biology experts.
