Blood Donor and Technician PhotoThe M. D. Anderson Blood Bank is a leader in the field of transfusion medicine. Since the early 1960s, we have served the needs of cancer patients, donors and the community by providing exceptional blood services.

Our milestones range from the standardization of a routine protocol for the transfusion of granulocytes in the late 1960s to the opening of a Nucleic Acid Testing facility in 2003.

Our vision is to continue on the cutting edge of technology, with highly trained staff in a team-oriented environment and state-of-the-art equipment. We hope to be the community’s choice for receiving excellent customer service and the safest blood services.

But we can’t do it without you. M. D. Anderson cancer patients require approximately 100 units of red blood cells and 400 units of platelets every day. That’s why donors are the most important part of the process. As new treatments are developed, and new technologies discovered, the need for blood donations has never been greater. Giving blood provides hope for cancer patients who depend on the support of their family and friends, and on the generosity of strangers just like you.

Be a hero - Donate blood today and save a life.
