Bioinformatics Group The Bioinformatics Group within the department serves as a component of the Cancer Genomics Program at M. D. Anderson. The Cancer Genomics Program is directed by Stanley Hamilton, M.D. The Cancer Genomics Core Laboratory is directed by Wei Zhang, Ph.D. The Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology is chaired by John N. Weinstein, M.D., Ph.D., and Donald A. Berry is the head of the Division of Quantitative Sciences. These groups are indebted to valuable contributions made by the personnel of the Genomics Core Lab.
Bioinformatics Mission Statement The Bioinformatics Group will develop statistically rigorous solutions for the design and analysis of experiments within the Cancer Genomics Program, and will provide data analysis, acquisition, curation and retrieval tools to complement the laboratory services offered by the Cancer Genomics Program.
Bioinformatics Clinics Bioinformatics clinics are held Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in FCT5.5049 (at the department's new location in the Pickens Academic Tower). For questions about microarray data analysis, statistical interpretation and other bioinformatics-related computational issues, meet with a statistical analyst during one of the clinics listed below.
Please contact the on-duty statistical analyst or check in with an administrative assistant in the Division of Quantitative Sciences on the 4th floor of the Pickens Academic Tower (FCT4.6000).

Bioinformatics Workshops Bioinformatics workshops / seminars are generally held Mondays from 11:00 a.m. to noon in the AT&T Classroom (FC1.2002) on the first floor of the M. D. Anderson Faculty Center or in the Telehealth Conference Room (ACB1.2345) on the first floor of the Mays Building. These venues permit the group to offer video conferencing with colleagues in outlying areas of the M. D. Anderson campus.
