Cardio-oncology Fellowship
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Cardio-oncology Fellowship is a one-year clinical and research program. Training will occur at MD Anderson, which is ranked the nation's top hospital for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report.
The fellowship is designed to train the next generation of cardio-oncology leaders to support the growing need for cancer patients and survivors. The fellowship will consist of six months of clinical and six months of research training.
Clinical training occurs MD Anderson's high volume outpatient cardio-oncology clinics, inpatient cardio-oncology consult services, stress test/echocardiography/vascular laboratory, and on-site Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology laboratory. The candidate will have an opportunity to learn about cardiovascular screening, prevention and management of cancer therapy-induced cardiotoxicities including immunotherapy, cardiac amyloidosis, cardiac tumors, and the management of cardiovascular diseases in cancer patients and survivors. In addition, the candidate will be expected to have a primary role in at least one and a secondary role in several research projects in cardio-oncology. This position is in addition to cardiology fellows who rotate through MD Anderson from the UT Health Science Center. There are regularly scheduled cardio-oncology educational conferences for trainees on site including case presentations, journal club, research meetings and cardiology grand rounds.
Applications are being accepted at present for training to start July 1, 2021. We are accepting applications from physicians who will complete internal medicine residency or general cardiology fellowship by the start date. Please send your CV and other pertinent information by email to Ms. Lauren Sutton, educational program coordinator, at lmsutton1@mdanderson.org.

MD Anderson Cancer Center is committed to encouraging good health and staying true to our mission to end cancer. If you are applying for a GME fellowship or residency program starting on or after July 1, 2016, please be advised that MD Anderson will have instituted a tobacco-free hiring process as part of its efforts to achieve these goals. If you are offered an appointment, you will be subject to a Pre-Employment Drug Screen for tobacco compounds in compliance with applicable state laws. If you do not pass the urine drug screening which includes testing for tobacco compounds, you CANNOT be appointed at MD Anderson. Should you fail to meet this contingency, MD Anderson will withdraw your offer of appointment for the academic year. You may reapply for the following academic year, but there are no guarantees that you will be offered a position as many of our programs are already filled for several years out.
