Felix Rutledge Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship
The Felix Rutledge Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology is a one-month elective rotation for third-year obstetrics and gynecology residents. This competitive fellowship is for individuals who are considering a career in gynecologic oncology as well as those who will pursue a general practice.
Selected residents spend one month on the Gynecologic Oncology Service at MD Anderson. Residents will have an extensive inpatient and outpatient experience. Through both didactic and practical teaching, there is exposure to radical surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. Residents in Obstetrics and Gynecology who will be at level PGY-3 in the upcoming academic year are invited to apply for the Felix Rutledge Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology. Comfortable housing is provided within walking distance of the hospital.
How to Apply
We begin accepting applications each year in October through DISCOVER, a web-based application system used to streamline the application process at MD Anderson. Rotating elective positions are not publicly advertised on the DISCOVER web site. You must contact the Fellowship Program Manager to indicate your interest, and she will initiate the application process for applicants by creating an account in the DISCOVER Post Office.
Applicants will receive a system-generated email containing their DISCOVER ID and temporary password with log in instructions and the URL.
Application deadline for the Felix Rutledge Fellowship is February 1 for the upcoming academic year.
In addition to the DISCOVER application, your completed application must include the following documents:
- A letter of recommendation and approval from your program director addressed to Dr. Aaron Shafer. This letter must state that professional liability coverage is provided by the parent institution for the elective rotation.
- An additional letter of recommendation from another faculty member
- Current curriculum vitae
- Immunization record
