Survivors Say - Nancy B. Loeffler

My commitment to MD Anderson is twofold. As chair of the institution’s Board of Visitors, I challenge anyone to find a more dedicated, energized group of individuals. It’s an absolute pleasure and, indeed, an honor to lead this group and serve this institution, which has such a crucial mission.
As a patient at MD Anderson, I’m committed on a much more personal level. Hearing the words, “You have cancer,” is a profoundly humbling experience. Yet my journey has been made easier by people whose generosity helps support cutting-edge research at MD Anderson to find new and better ways to detect and treat cancer. I’m deeply gratified by their dedication. I’m living proof that Making Cancer History® is truly within our grasp.
Civic and community leader Nancy B. Loeffler, of San Antonio, is chair of The University Cancer Foundation Board of Visitors (BOV) and serves on the Campaign to Transform Cancer Care Executive Committee. She is on the board of directors of Southwest Airlines and is on the advisory board of Frost Bank. Loeffler also is on the boards of directors of the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind and the Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin. She has formerly held positions on the Board of Regents of St. Mary's University, the Capitol Advisory Committee for Texas Lutheran University and the Vice President's Residence Foundation in Washington, D.C. Since joining the BOV in 1996, Loeffler has served as BOV vice chair and Membership Committee chair, on the Development, Institutional Initiatives and Strategic Advisory committees and on the South Campus Research Initiative Steering Committee.
