Internal Medicine Center
Cancer often involves other medical issues, both during and after treatment. MD Anderson's Internal Medicine Centers are staffed by physicians from cardiology, endocrinology, general internal medicine, infectious diseases and pulmonary medicine who provide comprehensive evaluation, treatment and management of cancer and cancer-related health issues.
Provides cardiac care to cancer patients who have co-existing heart diseases. Also treats the cardiovascular complications of cancer and its therapies.
Endocrine Neoplasia & Hormonal Disorders
Treats all malignant or benign endocrine tumors, thyroid cancer, endocrine complications from cancer and cancer therapies, general endocrine disorders and metabolic disorders. Also offers testing and assessment of inherited endocrine syndromes, including multiple endocrine neoplasia.
General Internal Medicine
Assesses the medical needs of cancer patients and addresses the medical complications of cancer and cancer treatments. Also treats and manages hypertension, diabetes and general medical disorders and offers evaluation and management or appropriate referral of patients with suspicion of cancer.
Assesses the needs of immunocompromised cancer patients who have infections and those who are at risk for infections. Provides diagnosis and treatment for bacterial, fungal and viral infections in patients with cancer with special emphasis on prevention, including immunization and immune enhancement.
Provides clinical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment to cancer patients who have pulmonary diseases such as acute and chronic emboli, emphysema and chronic bronchitis, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease and sleep apnea.
