Reasons to Call A Child Life Specialist
I want Child Life to offer my child/adolescent an opportunity to learn how to cope during medical procedures (for example blowing bubbles, deep breathing, imagery and relaxation).
I want my child/adolescent to participate in medical play or procedural education to help him/her with his/her medical experiences (for example surgery, lab draws and scans).
I want to help my child/adolescent understand his/her disease, diagnosis and treatment.
I want to help my child’s/adolescent's brothers, sisters, friend and classmates to understand my child’s illness
I, as a parent, want to understand the impact my child’s/adolescent's illness has on his/her emotional well-being.
I want to be sure my child/adolescent has a positive introduction to the hospital.
My child needs a daily schedule or chart to allow him/her a sense of control and the opportunity to make choices in the hospital setting (for example: using a daily schedule).
