Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance
Since 1989, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance has provided emotional, educational and practical support for families of children with cancer. The Children’s Cancer Hospital works with Candlelighters to support a staff of parent consultants at the hospital.
Our parent consultants have or had a child with cancer and are here to help other families cope with the day-to-day trials of the disease. As part of this program, parent consultants facilitate a weekly parent support group, share their knowledge and experiences with families, and help families find additional resources or support that they may need.
Candlelighters provides families with:
- parent consultants on-site
- weekly on-site support groups
- a quarterly newsletter with useful information on childhood cancer issues
- practical assistance such as parking passes, gas cards, meal passes and grocery store gift cards
- family activities and camps throughout the year.
