Proton Therapy – Minimally Invasive Treatment for Esophageal Cancer
Cancer Newsline - 07/25/2011
The esophagus is a difficult organ to treat with radiation therapy since it is so close to the heart, lungs and spine. Proton Therapy allows the radiation oncologist to only target the cancer cells, sparing surrounding tissue and organs. Daniel Gomez, M.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology, discusses this treatment option for esophageal cancer and shares additional information about the disease.
Guest: Daniel Gomez, M.D.
