Professional sports include the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys (football), Texas Rangers and Houston Astros (baseball), San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Houston Comets (basketball), Dallas Stars and Houston Aeros (hockey). Houston offers professional sports throughout the year.
There is plenty of college and high school football available. In the fall of 2002, National Football League returned to Houston with the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium.
The Rockets play from October through March in the Toyota Center in downtown Houston. Tickets are available at the Toyota Center box office or by visiting the NBA.com web site.
The Astros, winners of the 2005 National League Championship, play at Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston from April through September. Ticket information is available at the Astros Web site.
The Aeros play in the Toyota Center from October through April. Tickets are available at the Toyota Center box office or by visiting the Aeros Web site.
There are also many collegiate sports events scheduled in Houston, including University of Houston, Rice University, Houston Baptist University, University of St. Thomas and Texas Southern University.
Contact the individual institutions for ticket information. Whether you are a basketball fan, football follower or whatever your preference, area universities host sports activities throughout the year.
