Distinguished Mentor Award
The MD Anderson Postdoctoral Association established the Robert M. Chamberlain Distinguished Mentor Award in 2005 to recognize and honor faculty members whose careers have underscored the value of mentoring postdoctoral fellows at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Given annually, this award acknowledges a faculty member who, through demonstrated guidance of postdoctoral fellows, exemplifies the fundamental mentoring qualities of teacher, coach, and sponsor.
Conceptualized during the National Postdoctoral Association Annual Meeting in April 2004, the Robert M. Chamberlain Distinguished Mentor Award was inspired by discussion among postdoctoral fellows from institutions throughout the country who share the desire for the highest standard of professional development through exceptional mentoring. The institutional support for this award reflects the commitment of the MD Anderson Cancer Center toward its trainees and the importance the institution places on good mentoring.
The MD Anderson Postdoctoral Association dedicates this award to the promotion of the educational and research missions of the MD Anderson Cancer Center. In creating this award, the MD Anderson Postdoctoral Association encourages dialogue between faculty and postdoctoral fellows, which will not only enrich the postdoctoral educational experience, but also ultimately enhance the quality of research and patient care.
