Our Mission and Vision

The mission of the Division of Internal Medicine is to provide a broad spectrum of research-driven internal medicine care for patients with cancer, including aspects of prevention, treatment and survivorship. The vision of the Division of Internal Medicine is to continually expand our lead as a research-driven internal medicine division in a comprehensive cancer center.

Cyrus Scholar Awards Competition  

The Mariet and Michael Cyrus Research Fund, established in 2005, promotes the development of basic and clinical research skills in internal medicine.  Thanks to the generosity of the of the Cyrus family, two awards will be given: a Cyrus Scholar Award for Outstanding Basic Research and a James S. and Suzanne Cyrus Scholar Award for Outstanding Clinical Research.  Each of the 2012 award winners will receive $15,000 ($5,000 each for three years). 

 Abstracts Submission deadline: Monday, February 28, 2013

Call for Abstracts

Division of Internal Medicine faculty, fellows and staff may submit abstracts for presentation involving original research. Abstracts not presented at the 2012 Research Retreat but previously accepted, presented or published will be accepted. All abstracts submitted by junior faculty (instructors, assistant professors and associate professors) automatically qualify for the Cyrus Scholar Awards competition. The submission deadline is Thursday, February. 28, 2013. For complete instructions, visit www.mdanderson.org/conferences.  Cyrus Scholar Award winners from 2011 and 2012 are not eligible to participate in the 2012 competition.
