Abstracts and Scholar Award Information
Deadline for Abstract Submission is July 15, 2013.
The Collaborative Groups of the Americas on Inherited Colorectal Cancer (CGA-ICC) invites the submission of abstracts regarding clinical, basic science, and/or psychosocial aspects of hereditary colorectal cancer. The goal is to provide a comprehensive update on the status of research and to stimulate collaborations, recruitment of subjects, and ideas for the development of other studies. Authors may submit abstracts of completed work, work in progress, or work presented elsewhere within the past 12 months. All abstracts that are appropriately formatted and contain appropriate content will be accepted for poster or podium presentation. Therefore, meeting and hotel registration is encouraged at the time of abstract submission.

Abstract Submission Instructions:
Abstracts will only be accepted electronically and should be submitted via e-mail to abstract@cgaicc.com. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is 11:59 PM ET on July 15, 2013. All abstracts with appropriate content and formatting will be accepted for poster or podium presentation. Please indicate in your e-mail if you would like your abstract considered only for a poster presentation.
Abstracts will be selected for podium presentation based on scientific merit.
Notification of acceptance for podium and poster presentations will be acknowledge by e-mail in August 2013. Abstracts will be published in the December 2013 issue of the journal, Familial Cancer. Previously published abstracts will be excluded from publication in Familial Cancer.
Abstract Formatting Instructions:
Limit abstracts to one page, typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, single-spaced with one-inch margins, and left justified. Organize the abstract into Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Define all abbreviations. Include the abstract title, full names and institutional affiliations of all authors, and e-mail address of the corresponding author at the top of the abstract. Underline the name of the presenting author. Abstracts must not contain copyrighted material unless permission has been obtained by the author/publisher.

The Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation/CGA-ICC Colorectal Cancer Research Scholar Award
Thanks to a generous donation from the Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation (CCCF), the CGA-ICC is pleased to announce the Colorectal Cancer Research Scholar award for the top ranking abstract submitted by a trainee or junior faculty member. This award will be distributed onsite and is intended to provide $2,000 to cover meeting registration and travel expenses to the 2013 CGA-ICC Conference in Anaheim.
Colorectal Cancer Research Scholar Award Criteria
- The goal of this award is to recognize excellence in translational research focused on the molecular biology of colorectal cancer research. The CCCF has a special interest in the biology of early age of onset and hereditary colorectal cancer. However, research into other areas of colorectal cancer (e.g., novel treatments, innovative minimally invasive screening technologies) will also be considered.
- Trainees (i.e., postdoctoral fellows, residents, and clinical fellows), junior faculty (within one year of first independent faculty appointment), and junior genetic counselors (within one year of completion of training) are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must indicate their interest in being considered for this award at the time of abstract submission, and must be listed as the first author on the abstract.
- Trainees Applicants must provide a letter along with their abstract submission from a mentor, professor, or supervisor confirming their eligibility.
- The abstract must be presented by the award recipient and must be primarily their work.
