Get ready to two-step: Polo on the Prairie returns April 25

Texas music legend Robert Earl Keen to ring in 29 years of support for MD Anderson

MD Anderson News Release 04/13/2015

The Texas drought has touched countless fields and ranches across West Texas. But longtime MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors member Henry Musselman and his wife, Melinda, won’t let it stop them from hosting their annual fundraiser for The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

This year’s event, dubbed “Party” on the Prairie, will be held April 25 at the Musselman Brothers’ Lazy 3 Ranch in Albany, Texas. Country music superstar Robert Earl Keen will lead the festivities this year, putting on a private concert for the 900 supporters attending. Over the past 29 years, the fundraiser has amassed more than $5.3 million for key research and patient programs at MD Anderson.

MD Anderson supporters and
friends enjoy a barbeque
dinner at Lazy 3 Ranch.

“Polo on the Prairie plays an enormous role in raising awareness of MD Anderson and in raising funds to support our mission to end cancer,” said Ron DePinho, M.D., president of MD Anderson. “The generous support of the Musselman family and all who attend makes a real difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families in West Texas and around the world.”

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with a barbecue dinner served chuck-wagon style by Joe Allen’s Pit Bar-B-Que of Abilene, at 6:30 p.m. Robert Earl Keen will take the stage shortly after dinner. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show.
