The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking multiple tenured/tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professors to direct cutting-edge basic, translational, clinical, population, or data science research programs.

Successful candidates are expected to establish an independent, extramurally funded research program that complements existing research strengths at MD Anderson, in the themes listed below. Research should emphasize mechanistic studies and novel computational methods with relevance to multiple cancer types. Competitive applications will describe a clear line of sight for their program to broaden multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations intended to improve cancer care and outcomes.
Interested basic and translational science applicants should hold a PhD, MD or MD/PhD and have at least two years of postdoctoral training with an exceptional publication record. For applications in research domains such as data science and modeling, data visualization, or dissemination and implementation science, relevant and impactful experience will be prioritized over traditional length-of-training requirements.

Job Title: Assistant Professor, Research Faculty Appointment (RFA)
The Department of Cancer Systems Imaging at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas is seeking a Research Assistant Professor (RFA). The faculty member will play an important role in radiopharmaceutical discovery efforts aimed at novel therapeutics and diagnostics. The faculty member will report to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Radiopharmaceutical Research Program and be responsible for elaborating and overseeing multiple programs of drug discovery within this context. The DCM also maintains a preclinical studies program that conducts GLP-compliant evaluations of new therapeutics to assure both safety and efficacy prior to clinical studies in humans. This position will provide pathology diagnostic service, research collaboration, and education by providing anatomic pathology support to researchers, early drug discovery, preclinical development and safety assessment of novel therapeutic products, and educational training programs. The primary responsibilities of this position include pathology service in support of preclinical development and safety evaluation of new therapeutic compounds, necropsies associated with discovery studies, and colony health management. Nonhuman primates account for the majority of the caseload, with rodents (typically rats and mice) making up the remainder. Establishing research collaborations with scientists and sponsors across the institution, and service on various institutional academic and research committees are strongly encouraged and account for the remaining percent effort.
Candidate must have earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited university or equivalent foreign degree. Post-doctoral experience and/or education in veterinary pathology (PhD in related field) is preferred. Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) or ACVP phase II eligibility is required.
Candidates must have 3 years’ experience as a veterinary pathologist (this would include formal training under the supervision of a Diplomate of the ACVP/ECVP in an institution that trains veterinary pathologists as one of its primary functions). Experience in toxicologic pathology and laboratory animal pathology is preferred. He/she must meet institutional requirements for an academic appointment.

I. Administration

B. Actively seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support research. May require completion of grant application forms through oral dictation or use of a computer and keyboard. Also will require budget development and analysis.
C. Contribute to the literature in the field of expertise by publishing original research in peer-reviewed journals.
D. Provide a role model as a scientist for faculty, fellows, post-doctoral fellows, and residents and students.
E. Provide peer review for assessing the clinical and research practices of faculty within the department.
F. Must effectively and collegially work in a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
- Must be able to work within a context of very intense interpersonal relationships including other faculty, patients, and subordinates.
IV. Extramural
Represent the department in local, regional, state, and national matters. Will require traveling to sites outside of the Houston area and, upon return, disseminating the information obtained or learned by sharing with colleagues verbally or in writing.
A. Extramural leave is provided to each faculty member to facilitate participation in outside activities in the expectation that such involvement will foster clinical research, facilitate access of new therapies for M. D. Anderson patients, and promote the highest quality patient care. These activities may include lecturing at other academic institutions and serving as an advisor, consultant, or expert to appropriate government agencies, academic institutions, or various pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical companies, in accordance with institutional conflict of interest policies.

Job Title: Assistant Professor, RFA
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is recruiting for an Assistant Professor, Research Faculty Appointment, within the department of Radiation Oncology. The primary purpose of the Assistant Professor, RFA position is to apply technical expertise and experience to plan, coordinate, design, supervise and carry out currently funded research projects; develop new lines of research to support pursuit of additional funding options; and maintain a consistent record of publications and grant applications. Requires scientific and technical background, independent decision making, judgment and organizational skills and innovative participation. Conducts research, utilizes institution library, archives, collections, and other sources of information to collect, record, analyze, and evaluate facts. Discusses findings with mentors, collaborators, and staff to evaluate validity of findings. Prepares reports of completed projects for publication in technical journals, for presentation to funding agency, or for use in further applied or theoretical research activities. Must be able to assure compliance with safety standards employed by the Department, Division, and Institution.
EDUCATION:
Required: Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
